Flying home after breast augmentation: timing and precautions

Quick answer

Day 5–7 after review. Cabin pressure does not affect implants. Compression stockings, hydration and aisle walks cover clot prevention; the arm rules mean someone else lifts your bag.

When you're cleared

After the day 5–7 review: incisions sealed, implants in position, no fluid or bruising concerns. Flying earlier is a check you didn't have.

Implants and altitude

A persistent myth: cabin pressure is roughly that of 2,000–2,500 m and has no effect on silicone or saline implants. Diving, mountains and flights are all fine once healed.

Clot prevention and comfort

Compression stockings, water not alcohol, an aisle seat, a walk every hour, ankle pumps in the seat. Wear the sports bra and a front-opening top; recline — it's comfortable and allowed. Take scheduled analgesics before boarding.

The luggage rule

For 10–14 days you cannot raise your arms overhead or lift above 2–3 kg. Pack in a wheeled case, request assistance when booking, and let the crew or a companion lift the carry-on. The journey page covers the days before.
